Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold: The Ultimate Phone

Table of Contents

    First Look:

Wow, first impressions are just wow. This is crazy that this is a tri folding device Let’s go ahead and fold for the first time wrong direction Hinges feel pretty sturdy here on the first folds first impressions of the tri fold in the hands Definitely feeling the chunkiness of it given the tablet form factor It has here is a side-by-side with the fold 7 so similar thicknesses given the actual parts of them themselves But with this extra portion added here, we are actually getting some extra battery life on this, but honestly design-wise pretty similar overall. The cameras look pretty much identical. We have the same camera system in this tri-fold as the Fold 7. People have been comparing it to the Fold 6 in terms of thickness because it’s 12.9 millimeters on the tri-fold and 12.1 millimeters here on the Fold 6.

    Display:

Now here’s our first look at the 10.1-inch inner display. Obviously, the star of the show hereish this tri-fold. Just crazy to have this tablet in this form factor that you can just fold up, andandput right in your pocket. We also have on the outside the 66.5-inchdisplay that we just saw for the first time on the Fold 7. Been loving this in the new larger outer display and also turning this the other direction too. This is also a really solid feeling form factor here,e whereas on this Fold 7 you don’t really have that experience.

    Weight:

The phone’s weight is 309 grams, but in fact, this Fold 5 is slimmer than the previous one. Just imagine that. This is a very sleek experience if we compare it with other standards, and it doesn’t feel very bulky. The weight of 309 grams is okay, slightly on the heavier side compared to other normal phones. But we have seen phones of 230-240 grams in the market today. So it’s not that it’s extremely heavy.

    Productivity Features:

Now, here you can have 3 apps side by side. On one side, the settings app is running, on the other side, your maps are running, on the other side, your YouTube is running. All 3 side by side. And it is in its proper native aspect ratio if you have kept it like this, because this is how an app would be in a normal phone. If you want, of course, you can resize it. If you move it to the side, it can be resized. Otherwise, you can just shuffle the layout. If you want something like this, you can clearly do all this.

So, from the point of productivity, we think there are full marks in this one. You can run 3 apps on a side, or we have the support of Samsung DeX within the phone. You don’t need an external monitor. They say that you have a big monitor in your pocket, what will you do with an extra monitor? So, from here, you can use Samsung DeX to enhance your productivity again. From the point of view of documents, playing games, big screen, which is a lot of fun, you have it here. And yeah, this is the Samsung Galaxy Z trifold.

    Case:

First impressions of the case in hand, really nice feel, it doesn’t add too much more weight. With the case added, it’s only adding about 30 grams of weight overall for the first time on a Samsung case we a. Weally have hinge protection. This is something that they didn’t include in any of their previous Fold cases for whatever reason. This also has a really nice carbon feel to it and has some really nice snap back to it. It goes right into place, so this is not a loose, flimsy sort of thing here.

    Durability:

The good thing here is that we have Gorilla Ceramic 2 glass here. So there is no problem with protection. The cover screen is completely taken care of. And the delicate screen we have is properly protected inside.

Because it is not exposed to the outside elements. So, definitely in terms of durability, this is a good setup compared to Huawei. And the interesting thing is that you also get an IP rating in this. So,o against water and dust, there is no issue.

    Battery:

If we talk about Samsung flagships, then Samsung has used the biggest batterycapacity tol date, which is 5600 mAh. If we use YouTube, Facebook, and Instagram, we get good battery life. We get around 7 hours of battery backup in this phone.

    Ports and Buttons:

If we talk about buttons and ports from a point of view, you can see a speaker grill in the middle. And then you have the USB-C port and your microphone. Basically, the Type-C port isn’t slim, or else the Type-C port won’t be able to fit. Then on the right, we have the Power Lock Unlock button,n which has an integrated fingerprint scanner.

Then we have the volume rocker. On top, we have multiple microphones. And then in the middle portion, we have the top speaker. And then on the left side, we have the SIM tray and another microphone. Apart from this, the Armor Flex hinge that Samsung has used, you don’t get any branding on this side. It is very sleek, this one. And on the other one, we have Samsung’s branding here very nicely.

    Camera:

The camera setup is also identical to the Fold 7. We have a fantastic 200MP primary camera, and then we have the 10MP telephoto camera with 3x zoom. And then a 12MP ultra-wide-angle camera, which we get here. The selfie cameras, whether it’s a cover camera or the ones that we get inside, these two are the same. These are 10MP.

    Crease:

The crease, people care about that the crease, people care about that. If the screen is off and you’re turning it at certain angles but as soon as you turn on the screen the crease disappears it fades away it does not get in the way at all for personally like even rubbing my finger across the screen some people it bothers them when you’re using the phone it really you don’t really take it in you don’t really notice it unless you’re looking for it unless you’re thinking about it.

    Samsung Desk:

Then, to take it even further, there is something called Samsung Dex. If you’re not familiar, Samsung Dex is a desktop mode. You know, traditionall the,y Samsung Dex was something that you used on the external screen. You know, it takes your Android experience and turns it into a desktop-like experience where you can open apps and fill in windows. You have a taskbar, and you can pin apps to your home screen. You can change your home screen wallpaper, which is independent of your built-in screens, wallpaper, andsetup andd stuff. Now in one UI eight, you have widgets on your home screen in Samsung decks and stuff like that. So it’s kind of like a PC experience.

So the taskbar shrinks a little bit, but it stays at the bottom, and you still have your home screen layout and everything. But now in Samsung DeX, when you tap an app, instead of it opening in full screen, it opens automatically in a floating window,w or a window, kind of like Windows and Mac OS, you know, a computer. It’s kind of like having just floating windows permanently or automatically on.

But it’s slightly different because you can drag the apps to the sides of the screen to quickly snap them to different sizes. You can drag it to the top for a full screen. You can ddouble-tapthe bar to expand it just likWindows andnd macOS. It’s not full screen, but it’s kind of taken up, you know, all of the screen real estate except for the top bar and the ttaskbar You know, you can do things like that. Also, the taskbar works a little bit differently. So if we tap and hold the app icons, you’ll get different options. Like for example, checking, you know, which windows are open, or opening another instance of certain apps and this is the beauty of samsung software too that people don’t realize with samsung’s apps their first party apps a lot of people hate them and say it’s bloatware whatever samsung’s first party apps most of them can have multiple instances of the app and this is really useful.

A lot of other apps can’t do that. Like Google Keep Notes, you know, Google’s note-taking app. You cannot have multiple instances of it open. In Google’s file system, you can’t have multiple instances of it open. Obviously, within the limits of the floating window limitation and the split screen limitation, but you can open up many instances.

    Conclusion:

Here, you get only two options. Either you use it like a proper tablet,b or when you close it, use it like a normal phone. There is nothing in between that we think is fine because we prefer this design more than HHuawei’sA, andmagine this in your pocket, that you are carrying a 10-inch Tab sS, so you don’t have to think about that tablet separately. You are travelling, on the go, you have to see the documents, and you have tohave someo entertainment. You are using the phone like a normal phone very comfortably, and when you feel like it, you have a tablet in front of you.
